Wolves in sheeps clothing

When my husband and I were first looking for apartments, we didn't have a lot of money and just wanted a nice starter place. We weren't yet married and were just looking around. Both of our current apartments were to cozy for the two of us. We saw an add for this place and called right away. The girl in the office showed us Perry Place and said this was okay, and then showed us Grand Bend and made it out to be so great. She said they were so nice that if she didn't have 4 kids, she would live here. She said she needed $50 for a deposit and she needed it right now because it was the last apartment available. We rushed out and borrowed the money and came back and they had us sign that day. It sounded too good to be true with the size the cost and the utilities included. It was too good to be true. First of all, when we finally got moved in, we noticed several other vacant apartments on the lower level (which we wanted) that stayed vacant for several months. Yeah, they paid for heat, but the windows leaked SO bad during the summer, my electric bill was over $250/month to keep the place cooled at 80 degrees. Like someone else said, we called and maintenance told us to let it run. We did and then got stuck with the bill that they wouldn;t help pay, even though we knew it didn't work and they wouldn't come out to look at it until we called back later and said it was still hot. Then they would "fix" it and the cycle repeated all summer. In September, they finally put a new unit in, you know, right when the temperature is about 70 degrees with a cool breeze. My parents have a 2,400 sq/ft house that is always quite cool and doesn't cost that much. My window was actually seperated from the wall and it snowed in my apartment during the winter. It took maintenance 3 weeks to fix it and they trashed the carpet. The doors don't close because the apartments aren't level. They shut off the water all of the time, more than I think necessary. Other places I have lived never shut off the water this much. Here, it is like 2-3 times per month, and sometimes they don't even tell you. Once you sign your lease, the nice people in the office turn into snarling dogs. They are rude and apathetic to your complaints. When I finally gave my notice, they acted hurt that I was leaving at first and then by the end of the conversation they were pushing me out the door and rude. Also, privacy is a joke. One of my neighbors apparently had a fee of some sort to pay, and instead of confidentially letting them know, they put a sign on there door for all to see saying you owe $35 now or we'll report you. Isn't that terrible that I know the hairy details' If I were them, I would have sued. I could right a novel about how terrible this place is to live. During the winter, it actaully took me over a 30 minutes to get my car into the parking lot and I had to "borrow" someones shovel from a house accross the street ( I gave it back ) and dig out a parking spot. They don't plow until Erica is ready to leave. She is the aprtment manager. VEry rude and apathetic herself I might add. She doesn't care about anyone here.
I have lived in several apartment communities and they were all pleasant and great to live in. I thought I was upgrading to Grand Bend, but I would rather have lived in my in-laws basement than go here again. I'm glad we finally have a house. Good luck future renters, don't consider here, you'll regret it the length of your lease. One last detail, I first started out paying $495/ month. When my lease was up for renewal, they said if I release early, my rate would stay the same at $475/month, and if I waited my rate would climb to $495/month and continue to climb the longer I waited. SO, I overpaid $240 than I should have according to their rates and they never said anything about it. It wasn't a break to rent a second year, it actually said I would maintain my CURRENT RENT OF $475/MONTH. How lame is this place'
