Avoid here at all costs...awful management!

I've regretted moving here ever since we did. We moved here because we knew some friends who lived here and they liked it ok. (Management has gone downhill and our friends hate it as well now too). I guess I'll share my friend's stories first since mine is kinda long.
They screwed up everyone's heat bills in one building and were trying to charge them a couple hundred dollars a month. They finally (after a bunch of complaints) sent out letters saying whoops we were wrong, you only owe like $40.00. So my friends paid it and then a few months later they got a letter saying they owed a couple thousand dollars! THey took the letter to the office, it was copied and they said it was taken care of. Then they kept getting letters saying they still owed the money. My friend called there almost every weekend for over a month and a half and the property manager was always supposed to call her back or "look into it and call her back" and never did. Then my friends got a summons to go to court. My friend called them again, finally got the property manager and they finally said well ok you don't have to go to court. Now they're trying to bill my friend for their lawyer fees.
On top of that they recently put notices on resident's doors saying they were coming into their apartments to see if people had dogs and if they were crated. They said they had the right to come in and people couldn't say no. That's illegal in Michigan. These people are SHADY. Oh and maintenance is quite helpful but so far of the things that have been "fixed" they actually haven't been. At least they don't have a bad attitude though.
Anyhow now for my experience: first of all they were supposedly holding a townhouse for us but then they gave it away. They informed us of this 2 days before we were supposed to move in. My husband said but you said you were holding that one for us, and the lady was really snotty and said "well you didn't seem very interested." (Despite the fact all the paperwork had been filled out already and everything.) So my husband and the lady argued. Anyhow the manager assured us that we would get the next one available and it would just be a few weeks, sorry for the mixup etc. So sure enough less than a week before we were to move in they call and say oh, there's been a mixup with the people doing the carpeting and it's not going to be ready. We informed them that per our contract it would be otherwise that would constitute breach of contract and we would find somewhere else to live (we'd already taken days off work, reserved the moving truck etc.) It was ready on time so we moved in. Ever since this they haven't liked us. So now they harass us constantly.
We got a great pyranees puppy (after clearing it with the office) and we got a snotty call that woke us up while we were sleeping saying "you need to call me, we need to talk about your brindle pitbull puppy!". I'd already done all the paperwork and they had a copy of her paperwork at the office, they just didn't bother to look because the girl was apparently so excited to "get" us. Not to mention great pyranees look NOTHING like a pitbull...they're fluffy with a long snout. So we went to the office to complain about this girl's unprofessionalism and waking us up (we'd had many problems with her before...she was the same one who gave away the townhouse and then said we didn't seem interested among other incidents). I said it was unprofessional, they had a copy and it was ridiculous they were calling us up waking us up when they had the paperwork there. The property manager said well I don't know about that but we've had several complaints about your other dog (first we'd ever heard of it).
So now we have to prove what kind of dog our other dog is and they've been sending us nasty letters about it. While we were talking to them I asked why they were harassing us when our dogs are ok breeds according to their pet policy but many people here have pits and rots which they don't allow and yet they said nothing to them. They said well they address them as they come to their attention. I mentioned where some people have a pair of pits that try to come through the window every time I walked my dog. Last I noticed the dogs were still there.
My friend went to complain about someone that keeps their rot (supposedly not allowed here) off-leash (despite local leash laws and the apt having a leash law) that runs and barks at her every day and scares her and the office refused to do anything about it just saying "well we're VERY pet friendly". The other day I was walking our lab mix and her choke chain broke. So she ran up and barked at one of the ladies from the office. (She was abused before we got her so she's afraid of people...she's gotten a lot better but she barks and tries to look mean so they'll go away because she's scared. She's harmless though, she won't bite and if they don't go away after a minute she'll just tuck her tail and run or roll over on her back and submit.) Anyways so then we got a letter saying something about them having the right to remove her or something ridiculous like that.
