I have lived in Heatherwood since May of 2007. My now fiance and I talked with them in March about getting an apartment and they said it would be no problem. I never heard back, I ended up calling a month later and they said they were waiting for something to open up, no big deal right' Well they call a week later and say our move in date is May 15th, sounds great, and they will call us with our address. May 2nd I call and ask about the address, and the girl on the phone gives it to me. Then tells me the move in date is May 5th, so we packed and went in to sign the lease on the 5th. Well between the 2nd and the 5th they had changed our apartment (I had already bought blinds, nonreturnable of course) and it was a different set up. That should have been the first red flag. We could hear every single movement our noise the guy up stairs made. Our bedroom shares a wall with the stair case and the enterance way. We hear when ever anyone comes or goes. Also our lovely neighbors smoke in the hall way and leave their trash in the hall for days on end, leaving a lovely smell. The bedroom is about 20 degrees colder than the rest of the apartment and we can't figure out why. Also the "french door" has such poor sealing that you can see light shinning through. The washer and drier are a tad bit small, and it order to get a small load of clothes dry we have to have the drier running for 2-3 hours, not real efficient. In the summer we also have bees that nest on our patio. Parking is a nightmare, some times we have to park at a different building (not connected to ours, about 30 feet away) and walk over. They door a poor job of salting and shoveling. I have slipped and almost fell getting around my car twice. Also who ever put the toillet paper roll holder in the wall did a shoddy job, a month after we moved in half of it fell out of the wall, imagine that it won't just stay in dry wall'!'
On the plus side: The kitchen is a good size with lots of space and storage, the carpet is in decent shape, gas and water are included in rent, cable isn't horrible, and rent isn't horrible.
Needless to say when we move out we will be taking a closer look at a lot of things before we get stuck at another place for 12 months.
