Alright, so maybe it's not that bad. It really depends on your neighbors. Initially, it was fairly quite and the cheap rent made up for it. I could afford to go to Vegas 3 to 4 times a year when I lived there. But, it is far too noisy there and the buildings are starting to look run down. I hear one neighbor threating people on a phone using an impressive string of 5 obsenities per sentence. Another neighbor like to argue with his wife. And yet another has two noisy kids who have no discipline or consideration at night. This is especially true in the summer, where the little ruffians stay up till at least midnight. And then there's the dirt ball who leaves garbage bags outside his door for days on end. And finally there are the Jesus twins (there are two different ones every six months). I'm pretty sure they're jehovah's witnesses (enough said).
The laundry rooms are small with 2 washers and dryers for my building. People like to forget about thier laundry and leave it in there for hours on end, which force you to remove it for them. Initially I found this rude, but it became a necessary evil for me.
I've called maintenance about 9 times while I was there for plumbing problems & heating/AC problems. On average it takes about 2.2 days with a mean of 2 days to have something fixed. The longest it ever took to fix something was 5 days and that was replacing the bath tub.
If you want to save money and have a high tolerance for other people's rudeness, quirks, and noise this is the place for you.
And lastly don't leave your window open at night. You can hear a train's horn every now and again.
