I lived in Thornridge for nearly 2 years. The only reason I moved there was because I was on an extremely tight budget and they were the cheapest in the Grand Blanc area. First off, they were very pleasant when I came in to fill out the app. Then I wasn't approved because my credit wasn't so great, and they were totally NASTY to me. But they were the ONLY place I could afford as a newly single working mom. I had to have my grandma co-sign for me and then suddenly they were nice again once she was approved. I had to pay a $750 deposit, which sucked considering my rent per the lease was only $455. Upon moving in, there were some ridiculous things wrong with the place. The screens on the windows were bent and falling out, there were NAILS in the floor to hold down the kitchen tiles, and I HAD TO BUY MY OWN WINDOW COVERINGS!! The size of their sliding doors is not normal, and I would have had to special-order vertical blinds to the tune of about $350!! I cheaped out and bought curtains instead for the sliding door. Even though my apartment was small at 790sqft, I had to either run the air or the heat 24/7 for the apartment to be comfortable. The vents didn't work well at all. Once my rent was 9 days late and they had already filed court papers, which I had to pay the $200 court fees! Really nice. After my lease ended my rent went up $90/month because I refused to sign for another year because I wanted OUT. The place literally fell apart during that first year. There was black mold growing on ALL the windows and in the bathroom, and ICE would form on the inside of all the windows as well! It never broke 70 degrees in there during the winter even though I had to crank the furnace up to 80 and plastic the sliding door to help with the drafts. The front door had no weatherstripping so I had to put a towel across the bottom to stop the coooold breeze that blew in through it!! The stove was a piece of crap and never worked right, I had to have my toilet fixed 4 times because they refused to buy new parts for it, and I honestly believe the low temps and black mold are the reason my children were sick all the time (they are perfectly healthy in our nice new place at Fox Hill Glens). In addition to all of that, the management office is HORRIBLE. They are the snottiest bunch of inept excuses for employees I've EVER come across in my entire life. They are lazy and they lie and they are downright RUDE. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone - not even my worst enemy!! SAVE YOUR MONEY and go somewhere else!!!! They'll also try to keep all of your deposit. I only ended up getting back under a tenth of my $750. SINCE WHEN does it cost over $500 to replace around 600sqft of carpet'! Carpet that did not even NEED to be replaced'! A Thornridge. I hope one day someone is able to sue the pants off your company. Oh, and to summarize: *parking* -- good luck on a Friday or Saturday night! They don't assign parking, so you'll have to park around the corner to get to your apartment on the weekends. *Noise* - Insulation is total crap and there is no weatherstripping on the doors, so you can hear EVERYTHING said in the hallway and in the apartment across the hall. *Grounds* Nothing special, but not horrible. *Safety* Well, they make YOU put the salt on the sidewalks by leaving a big bucket inside each building, and the parking lot light outside my building was burned out for 11 months before they finally replaced it. *Construction* CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP and poorly done. You do NOT want to live in the colored buildings (blue/green/rust/cream) - they are the oldest and the least cared for.*Maintenance* The maintenance guys admit they hate Thornridge and as such, don't really care that they do a ------ job. They actually resent after-hours calls for things like BROKEN TOILETS. Thanks, guys. *Staff* They are HORRIBLE. Just horrible. They are lazy and they LIE about things. Especially the old redheaded one -- you all know which one I'm talking about. Talk about the wicked witch of the west. *OVERALL* unless you are a single person who is NEVER EVER HOME, stay away from this place. Thornridge gets a .5 on a scale of 1 to 5 from me.

Oh, and I'd like to add -- the cops are there pretty much every other day! One Saturday night at around 11:30pm there was a guy hiding in our stairwell to avoid the cops finding him (luckily my fiance called the cops and they arrested him). Because they don't have an entry system, any psycho can get into the building and just hang out. That's some safe living, eh?!
