we wrote thornridge a check for rent two weeks early as usual and asked them to hold it until the following friday. the person who we spoke with in the office said that it would not be a problem, what a lie that was. they decided to cash the check the following monday and we recieved $500 in nsf fees through our bank due to this. we called management and they told us that there was nothing that they could do about it. aparently they do not train there employees about company policy because we were told later that they are not alowed to hold checks but when we asked at first it was not a problem, and of course no one in the office owned up to making the mistake. we will not be renewing our lease there and would not recomend moving in if you are some one who tries to pay bills early. you would think that the management would try to save a tenant that pays rent early and gives you no problems but i guess they dont care about there tenants. good luck to you in your apartment search, do not make the same mistake we did.

Perhaps you shouldn't write bad checks! Don't you know it's illegal to write a bad check? Sounds like your fault, not theirs.

I used to live there too. The office staff is never good for any kind of help. It is funny to me that every time they get a bad review on this site, that there is a quick response that disagrees. I have always felt that they add comments to this site, especially the good ones. I lived there for seven years, and never paid my rent late. The last year I lived there I had been sick and was unable to work for a significant time during the year. The latest my rent was ever late was 2 weeks. This only occured on maybe 4 different occcasions. They refused to renew my lease becuase of this. I thought it was rediculous considering my circumstances. Of course, the office folk did not understand.

If the check was good why was there a NSF on it? They wouldn't need to hold it if you had the money in your account. All you would of needed to do is get the check recipt saying it was for whatever month.
