Awful Apartment Experience From: philosophile Date posted: 3/4/2008 Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2008   I am 23 years old and have lived in Apple Ridge for a year. Although I liked it at first, I have grown to hate it ardently. I am not really one to write on-line reviews, and have to be pretty upset to do so. Although it is true that the grounds are kept looking nice (that is, where they are visible to those driving through; the same is NOT true if you live facing away from the road) the roads and parking lots are terrible. This winter they have allowed massive potholes to go unfilled and they have failed to plow or even salt the parking lots. There is so much ice hardened in little hills all over the parking lot that it feels like I am off-roading when I pull in. In addition, there is no security. That would be fine if it were unnecessary, but it is not. I have had my doormat stolen, my laundry (3 loads) stolen and have felt generally unsafe numerous times. My experience is not isolated, as many of the other residents in different parts of the complex I have spoken to have had things taken or creepy things happen as well. Finally, the staff members seem nice, but they are not. Particularly, watch out for the short, long-haired, blond girl with the big forehead. For example, I have paid my rent on time every month since moving here. However, this month, I ran out of checks and went in several days early to inform the staff that my new checks would arrive from the bank one day late. In fact, the checks arrived early and I turned in rent only 1 hour and 30 minutes late. Even with the advance notice, my good record, and the fact the staff knew me on sight and had been nothing but friendly to me, I was still charged the late fee. The apartments themselves are alright and the maintenance staff has been efficient, but I would never recommend this place to anyone and cannot wait to move in August. I hope this review helps at least a couple of prospective renters avoid a bad experience. Thanks for reading!
