Stay away from this trap!

Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2008
Unfortunately my girlfriend and I moved into this apartment complex without doing a lot of research beforehand, we were desperate and needed a place to live and this was the closest place we could find to our jobs. When we were shown around the grounds I had mentioned I work third shift, and was assured by staff that I would not be able to hear any noise during the day. This was a complete lie. Not only do I hear the constant buzzing of the highway behind our building, I can hear the people above us do laundry, walk around their apartment, jump on the floor, and slam the door when they get home. Unfortunately these are nice people, so I haven't said anything to them when I see them (which is rarely), but they make noise between the hours of 6 a.m. and 2 a.m. This has been going on since I moved in, and it has now been nearly 6 months of our one year lease.
Also, the door leading to the hallway is so thin you can hear conversations when in the hallway. The people next to us play their music and TV at a moderate level, but you can still hear it from within your own apartment. Also, the people next door have left their cat and garbage in the hallway many times while away, as well as parked in OUR covered garage parking spot.
In the winter the drive-ways are barely plowed, and are plowed in such a way that it has blocked some residents parking spots. One yard and groundsman told me they had 3 snow blowers, but all were broken, so they had to shovel by hand, and only did a small path from the door to the parking lot, which was unplowed of course.
The apartments themselves are very cheap. The automatic heater does not work, it will just run forever, so you have to manually start and stop it. There are cold breezes that come from the windows and doors, which also leak in water and grow mold from the moisture they let in. The room we use as the main bedroom is always cold even with the heater on. The bathroom also has inadequate air flow from the meager fan in the ceiling, so that is often moist and sticky as well.
I could go on and on but as you can see there are plenty of things here to stay away from. I rented a much better apartment that was equally as old for 100 dollars less in Rockford, with absolutely no problems. This is rediculous and we will not rent from here again. I advise you to do the same.
