I am currently living at The Crossings apts. I originally chose the apts because of the affordable rent, forced air furnace and laundry facilities inside each apt.
After being here about 6 months or so, I realize that cheap does come at a price. Some issues I have are as follows:
Water drains are loud, I have two in my apt & anytime anyone above me uses water it sounds like a waterfall in my bedroom and kitchen.
Walls are pretty thin, or lack of insulation' I can hear the neighbors baby screaming all the time, and I hear them yelling at their kids, and the kids yelling & banging against the walls. They are also smokers, and somehow from time to time, I get that nasty smell in my apt. Also, the neighbor in question is an employee of the complex, and whenever my TV or stereo gets above a whisper he comes a knocking on my door. I am in no way being overly loud, or obscene, In fact he is the only neighbor I hear from.
These apts were poorly built. Apparently the plumbing is terrible. In speaking with the maintenence guy, he says that most of his work every week consists of repairing water leaks, fixing drywall. I had a water leak in my kitchen, turned out to be that the main water line sprung a leak. It took the better part of FOUR weeks to repair. They cut 4-5 holes in my celing to repair it. The maintence guy did a good job, but WHY did it take 4 weeks' It was quite an inconvenience to live around this mess, and when it was all done & finished... I still had to clean up. I think the maintenence dept may be under staffed'
One last comment... after everything was finally done, I asked for a partial refund on my rent, but was told by the manager that he could not do that'' I think that is just poor business practice. HOWEVER, if I am a day late paying rent, I get charged $20.00'
I would only recommend these apts. if you are looking to save money & need a cheap place to stay.
problems I have had:
Toilet leaking, replaced ballcock & intake valve. Water leak in kitchen, cut holes & replaced water line. Furnace quit working, not holding temperature, reset control board' Washer not draining, replaced drain pipe/tube. Ants & Spiders, exterminator came & sprayed.

I currently live at the crossings too. I can't say I've had the toliet leaking or the water leak in the kitchen, but I do see potential water problems in the ceiling and I've only been here 6 months! My furnance died about 3 months ago and I came home on the coldest day to a freezing cold apt. I called maint. and they responded when they wanted too. I heard that one of the maint guys lives in the building over...why did it take so long? The place was built very poorly; when my neighbor next door or below me shuts their door it is as if my whole apt shakes. I could be sitting on the couch and watch the pictures on my walls move...it's ridiculous!!! And the spiders...omg! I get about 20 a day in the vaulted part of my ceiling and they can't spray until the end of June??? WTF? I am so disappointed in this Edward Rose property. The first one I lived in about 7 years ago was awesome, had no complaints, but I won't do this again. I can't wait till my lease is up so I can move.

You should both consider purchasing a condo from Traditions condominiums. With zero $ down, your payment after the tax incentives for owning would run only about $900 per month. They are located on 76th st and Kraft--not too far from the Crossings. You should call them at 616-891-9900.
