I think it is funny how most of the people who complain are the ones that are there 2 years.
I work for an apartment complex and the best thing I tell people when they come to see a place is to talk to other tennants and see what they think...yadda yadda yadda
I used to live in apartments but had to get out to a home of my own. I could not take the apartment life style anymore.
If you have to go to the leasing office to have maintenance done they had best ask you if they can enter your place. It is common courtesy for them to knock twice...and announce themselves when opening a door.
If you do not trust them install a chain lock on the door when you are home. It is NOT ILLEGAL!!!
Look in your lease...somewhere there is a right of entry...I think it is on emergency only...not sure, but read it. If it is something you can fix call the office and tell them your going to fix it but charge them for it. IE....if your front door just one day falls off the hinges and they do not fix it promptly fix it and charge them. Or hire someone who will and have them charge the complex... or just call the fair housing commision or your citys building inspection department.
