The garbage dumpsters need to be emptied more than once a week or twice a week. If they figure how many families are putting trash in the dumpster, it is disgusting, over flows and smells especially horrible in the summer, let alsone the embarassing sight to tenants and any visitors! I think it is about $40 to $50 to get the can emptied one extra time a week.... please please spend the money! Also, I have had people that work there enter my apartment without notification as well. It appears to me the manager feels he owns each and every unit and enjoys intimidating and belittling tenants. However, he does not realize that the tenants pay his salary. Everyone else in the office seemed so nice and also the old crew! I hear people say over and over they want that crew back. No wonder there are so many vacancies! They are also not firm on their pricing. Get it in writing before you sign the actual lease! They also advertise free heat, however there is bas board heating so it is kicked on by electric which you will have your own electric bill. You don't have a gas bill, however the water bill is $30 to $40 per month. The buildings with a laundry facility will be split between the tenants and the apartment community, but they will not disclose the ratio! Also, for two showers a day and one load of dishes a day, how come my water bill is higher than a 3 bedroom house''' Sewer is almost $20 per month and the water is typically $15. AUM is the water company. I think it is a rip!

Some things just never seem to change at VGLSC. Dumpster overflow was a BIG problem in 2006, 2007, and 2008 as well. As mentioned by others, many of the staffers are, indeed, friendly. Some, in the past, have earnestly attempted to resolve noise issues, but to no avail.
During the winter of 2007, the maintenance crews decided to inspect the heat exchangers in the furnaces of building 25801. Several of the heat exchangers, including mine, were leaking carbon monoxide - that explained the constant headaches. Gas to those furnaces was turned off and the affected units were without heat for one week or more. Replacement heat exchangers were not available locally, nor did VGLSC have any in stock. These poorly timed inspections should have been performed during the summer months, not during the dead of winter.
The 2 million dollar renovation of VGLSC in 2008 seems to have accomplished very little.
