Never seen such a beautifully maintained rental

The grounds are lovely--lots of diff types of trees/fountains. Grass cut frequently and kept nice. I come from another state where none of the rental communities I've lived in cared as much as this one. Gorgeous! I feel like I'm living in a freakin' Park! Perhaps it is b/c this is a mixed community w/owners too. Which is something I really think is good design. There's even a doggy fence park! I also like looking at all the other renter's flower pots, etc. People here really take pride in their areas. Once, we all got a note from the management about picking up doggy poo, and I had been bad about that at times, so I realized I should be better. I think they do care, and encourage you to care too. I think there's a community garden in back for food too, but I've never really gone back there.
I was living in West Lansing for a while before this and we left as soon as possible, and that place was similar rent, but was Terrible! People say Aspen is expensive, but I think its worth it for quality of life, safety, etc.
These other reviews mention the management and clubhouse, neither of which I can say I've had much experience with, so I can't totally comment there. I don't use the facilities and have never had a maintance issue, except when I first moved in and didn't have a lightbulb in the garage light. The old, friendly gentleman came over, put in one, and then handed me the whole rest of the box! Oh, and every time they come to change the filter, I've already changed it b/c I like the fancy hyper-allergenic kind. They don't bother me about it--they just say ok thanks, and go to the next unit. I like that they haven't been overly pushy. We've been here for about 2yrs.
I've never heard my neighbors thru the walls, but I'm sure the construction isn't great. I mean, it IS a rental. But it sure does look good. I always wanted a white cabinet kitchen, and this is IT! And there's the fake marble counters that always look clean and nice, and the kitchen is just huge.
One thing I don't like is the ongoing construction. I guess we didn't think of that when we moved in, or we thought they'd finish faster. They have taken FOREVER to finish the house next to ours, and we have allergies, so the dust is just terrible. I guess this won't be an issue in another few months though.
I also think the bathroom setups are wierd. The sinks are outside the bathrooms in the bedrooms like a motel. But I'd definately recommend Aspen Lakes. It's absolutely lovely--best place in the greater Lansing area, and believe me, we looked everywhere. x-2PE3sjUIIeetAHoKOk

You haven't noticed some of the fountains doesn't work? Glad you guys don't use the facility, otherwise you will notice that when you come out of the swimming pool, it's weird...you don't smell chlorine, you smell like a rotten fish.....yikes!
