not worth the money

Knollwood has a few good things going for it. One being the location. Its very close to campus so walking to class is really easy. Also the office staff is generally friendly, except for some guy who looks like Boss Hog who mouthed off to me once. They are generally quick to fix things as well.

Now it's pretty good that they are quick to fix things because when I moved in the apartment obviously wasn't ready for me. The front door looked like a 2 liter of coke exploded against it. The living room was ok except for the slider door being broken. About the only thing that worked in the kitchen was the sink (not counting the garbage disposal) and the lights. We had to get a new fridge, stove, and dishwasher. They fixed the garbage disposal and cleaned the floor in the kitchen which was VERY sticky. The upstairs had a bad case of B.O. and the bathroom was very moldy. Most of the apartments were remodeled, so almost no other apartments were as bad as mine. Mine hasn't been remodeled yet.

Noise is ok. The most we really hear from the neighbors is their booty music blaring through the walls. The pipes in the walls are pretty loud and bang around a lot. Its not a big deal, its just a little unnerving in the shower when it sounds like someone is breaking into the apartment or something. The tub also sounds like its breathing, but that's just creepy, nothing to get too upset about there.

All in all the apartments are ok. They're not anything you can get for less money elsewhere, unless you have to live in the Lafayette neighborhood for some reason. Then you get what you pay for. There are much worse looking apartments around here. But there isn't really much reason to look exclusively in this neighborhood, so I would say, save your money and look a little farther off campus.

Oh and one more thing, if you do decide to move in to Knollwood, bring lamps. The lighting in these apartments in terrible and the ceiling lights in the bedrooms are basically useless.
