I chose Candlewyck because I needed an apartment quickly. When I first moved in I couldn't fit my couch through the doorway and called the office. They said that happens to a lot of people and to bring it up over the balcony. I had to wait until I located some thick rope and left my couch in the hallway for a long time, until I found 4 stong guys to hoist it up to my apartment. When my new $1500 couch reached the apartment it was ripped to shreds. Someone kept putting their trash in front of my door and I was notified not to put trash in front of my door even though it wasn't mine. My bathroom sink was disgusting and had built up hair stuck in the safety drain which I had to take a razor blade to remove it which told me it had been there awhile. The wallpaper is falling in the bathroom and I vacuumed up paintchips everyday. My pantry door hasn't been up since the day it fell down way back in 2004 because it simply won't stay. I've been towed twice for parking over the line. And when asked to see the pictures of my car they only looked like a tire and the pavement. I could not even tell what car the picture was of. Everynight the tow truck wakens me and my child with it's loud engine and is not discreet about towing people at all. The police have come around several times for robberies or domestic disputes in my building. The fire alarm goes off about once a month then the fire department comes, I don't even bother leaving my apartment because I know it's caused by the faulty fire alarm. There is dog poop everywhere. I used the fitness room acouple of times and only 3 machines actually work. The pool is freezing. All the kids that swim there would leave with purple lips. Now I've recently been told that my child cannot swim in the pool unless I'm present. I asked if my babysitter could be on a list and I was told no. My rent was raised $35 dollars after living hear for 2 years and at the same time ther were banners hanging in the entrance stating "Rent at Employee Cost" "Pay what we pay". Meanwhile raising current residents rent. My unit is supposed to be on the nice side and is considered one of the nicer unit. It is dingy and dirty, in which I've done alot of cleaning up. If this is considered nice the management have a blurred vision. I have lived in several Kalamazoo Apartments and I can say from experience Candlewyck is aweful, maintenance, staff, price, grounds, parking, space, laundry room, pools, workout room, everything aweful.
