Great place for poor college students.

If you want to live alone, aways off campus but still being close to the action, Concord is a great way to go. I lived there for a year and never had a problem, theres tons of parking (a nightmare at some other complexes this close to campus) and it's well lit. It's also MUCH cheaper than a dorm room and the plus is no crappy school food!

Concord gets a bad reputation for safety, probably because there is a very large minority population there. But I would come home at 2 or 3 in the morning all the time and have never had a problem. Never had my car broken into, never have seen a criminal act take place there, and never had my apartment broken into. Plenty of single white females live at Concord with roomates, or by themselves, and never a problem there.

Concord is actually located in Oshtemo Michigan, a township of roughly 10,000 residents. It is by no means a "ghetto" all though there are some "ghetto wannabe" residents in Concord, still most are normal, and theres a large number (probably 35% of residents) of college students on campus.

Noise has never been a serious factor for me either, I had one neighbor who likes to turn up his music on the weekends, but I find that to be acceptable, plus I'm ussually wasn't home on the weekends at night so it didn't bother me. Noise has never been a factor after 11pm other than the occasional car that goes by, or parks next to the building with blaring music and/or heavy bass.

The parking lots are well lit, before I moved out one of the building security lights did burn out, and the lot was dark. I immediately called the office staff, and a week later they replaced the entire fixture with a much brighter security light.

Maintainance is NOTORIOUSLY slow, but if you call emergency maintainance about anything, even small stuff, and you make a big deal about it they will come out and fix it on the spot. Also if you have a neighbor blaring music at any time of the day, maintainance will come out and verify it and report it to the office staff who will evict after 3 complaints. I did no one person in the building who was evicted on noise complaints a month after I moved in.

Every building has a laundry room on the bottom floor, $1.25 to wash and $1.00 to dry, and unlike the laundry mat the dryers actually dry! Go figure. It costs the same as the laundry mat across the street, except you get to sit and watch cable tv in your air conditioned apartment instead of sitting and waiting while doing nothing in a laundry mat. Never had laundry stolen either.

If you can afford more than $400 a month or if your getting a roomate, I'd suggest a better apartment complex (Seville, Dover Hills, Drakes Pond) with a dishwasher, central air (only wall units at concord) and a washer and dryer. However, if you're a poor college student like me looking to live alone, it's a no-brainer. And if you move into Concord, in either a studio, one bedroom, or two bedroom apartment, DEMAND a third floor apartment, tell them it is a requirement for you. My only huge complaint is when I hear the guy upstairs walking around his apartment, it's annoying when I used to be studying for a test in quiet.
