Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2008
I'm a college student and after living here for two years, I'm glad to be moving out because this place is a living hell. The management seemed very nice before I signed my lease, once I was locked into a contract, things changed. One of the first questions I asked before I signed the contract was would I be able to choose my cable and internet provider. They said of course, but they did offer the services as well. After reviewing their prices and services, I declined and decided to choose my own provider. I ordered charter cable and internet as they were offering a special. When the technician showed up to perform the installation, the management refused to allow the technician access to the cable junction box that the apartment complex had locked away. When I inquired why, they told me, "We no longer allow outside cable or internet service in our complex. You have to use the services we provide, which is Bloom Broadband internet and out cable service." Now this is three days after I moved in and a month after I signed the lease. I explained that I was told I would be allowed to choose when I signed my lease. Their response was, "That was the case up until two weeks ago, you would have had to start your service before that date. Besides, we offer the same as charter at better prices." After some research and reviewing, I discovered that the Edward Rose purchases the internet from charter and resells the service through their Bloom Broadband service, which the support and service is nonexistent. I even called charter to confirm this and the service representative stated, "Yes, we run a fiber line to that complex and handle all data services there." She even explained that all the IP addresses assigned here are from them. The cable is terrible and so is the internet service and it is over priced. I can get more channels and higher internet speeds for what I'm paying now if I purchased it directly from Charter, but I have no choice if I want cable and internet service. So Edward Rose runs a monopoly and makes a few bucks more by reselling internet and cable. Noise is a huge problem, the neighbors are inconsiderate. I have people banging on my door and yelling trying to get in at all hours of the night. I block my door at nights because it's like a jungle outside after dark. I wish I could afford a gun to keep at my bed side as it has gotten that bad around here. Security is a joke as the doors are secured by one dead bolt and the door frame is very weak. Anybody with a pry bar or that had some brains could easily let themselves into any apartment with no signs of forced entry. Really, a cardboard box has better security then this place. My truck has been hit in the parking lot twice now and I had to file insurance the second time as the damage cost was over $2000. I hate going to the office for anything as nobody there seems to care. I've gotten to the point where I just drop off rent and leave because I cannot get any answers from management regarding any problem I have with the complex. Maintenance does keep trash picked up that was left there from the parties that go on at night and the grounds are keep up. As for laundry, use the coin laundry service down the road behind the gas station, their dryers work and the place doesn't smell like piss. I cannot believe I lived here this long; if it wasn't for my roommate, I would have been out of here a month after I moved in. I've lived at the Pointe and the Arboretum and paying the extra few dollars is totally worth it. Don't sign a contract here, it's a JUNGLE!
