Well, this is one of the cheapest apartments in town. Heat, water, sewer, and trash are included in the rent. Cats are allowed, and there is only a deposit (no pet rent!)They're decent sized as well: a two bedroom is around seven hundred feet or so. The location is great too. I'm only ten minutes from Crossroads Mall, downtown, and WMU. What a great deal, eh'
Denway Apartments, like most other apartment complexes, has its issues. Nothing major, really. There is little ventilation in the bathroom, for instance. The ceiling is moldy and peeling apart. To rememdy this, I was told to crack open the large window in my shower (which does not have a screen) during/after we shower. I live on the first floor, and I am a female who has a male roommate. Oh, and while we're on the topic of my bathroom window, it has recently begun to leak. It was promptly fixed, thankfully. Maintenance was instructed to install a curtain over the window. The curtain rod was in two pieces that didn't quite fit together, so it was taped together with Scotch tape.
The apartment complex is very small, and it is a one way drive. Thus, I am given one assigned parking spot. There is a relatively decent number of vistor parking spots, thankfully. Unfortunately, my guests have trouble finding them in the winter time because the drive rarely gets plowed (it was only plowed once this winter so far - thank God we're having this warm period and some of the snow is melting).
My water is rusty and yellow. My intercom did not work when I moved in. It took two weeks to have a locksmith fix the lock to one of the two main entrance ways in the middle of winter. The coils on my electric stove don't fit right. The hedges are rarely trimmed, and when they are, large branches are left to lay in the one way drive, possibly in the way of cars. Oh, yeah, and there's a mysterious black-colored mold growing behind my bed. Well, at least this place is fairly quiet. Except for that time last summer when we had to call the cops on our neighbors because this guy hit his girlfriend.
Needless to say, I am counting down the days until I get out of here.
