I moved in here as temporary corporate housing and was charged an astronomical fee for a furnished 1 bedroom apartment (it was more then my $250,000 mortgage payment) then when I moved out they troed to charge me $1800 to recarpet the place and another $500 because there was cat hair on the furniture.

I'm not a college student I was a corporate relo - I wouldn't recommend this place to a homeless person!

When I was there a couple years ago as a resident, the office pulled the same B.S. on me. I was charged by Consumers for electricity a month before my lease started. Drake's Pond tried to get me to pay for utilities when the apt was empty! Also, they missed two walk-through appointments the first week I was there. When I moved out, I was charged for damage by previous tenants. The office staff had a "so what, sue me" attitude.

The issue that you are having, have you brought it to the Property Managers attention? The only bill that I have from a resident that was in a corporate apartment does not equal the amount that you are talking about, I think you need to call Drakes Pond and speak to the Manager. Why was the electric in your name to begin with along with the cable bill?

I agree it was advertised that you pay utilites however I am still receiving the electric bill and had to pay the cable bill as I was told it wasn't covered. The bill I received in the mail was for $1200 for the carpet and $300 for the furniture - plus the utility bills I had to pay so as to keep them off my credit = total $1800. Also, considering I've had my cat for 12 years and all my furniture is hair free once you actually vacuum it - that charge is ridiculous. The pets were disclosed at the begninning and it is to be expected that their might be pet hair left behind. It is sad that an apartment complex would try to take adavantage of a renter like this. The management company will be hearing about this, I just wanted to protect other prospective renters from having to deal with this.
