After several confrontations with my roommate I decided that I was going to move out. I went to the office and asked how much I would need to pay to get out of my lease, and to my surprise, they said that there was no getting out of it. I searched around for a subleaser to take over my lease for the second semester, but no luck. What I am trying to get at is, don't move into these apartments with someone you don't know because there is pretty much no chance you'll be able to get out of it. Another thing that gets really annoying is the key to get into the apartment. They recently changed all of the doors to hotel style card locks. It is extremely annoying to try and keep track of a card instead of a key. The apartments are fairly nice, but if you decide to live here, make sure to fill out your damages sheet as thoroughly as possible to avoid being charged for things you didn't do. Another thing is unless you want to be paying out the butt for your heat bill you have to keep it fairly cool in your apartment. We were keeping our apartment at 70 and our bill for last month was $110. These apartments were also broken into, in which three people were sent to the hospital. That worried me because in most apartments one of the bedroom windows is on the balcony, which would be easy access to anyone who wanted to break in. I also find the apartment to be quite pricey. At first I thought we were getting a good deal, but after looking around at places for next year I realized that I would be paying a lot less somewhere else.

Overall... If you decide to live here: be cautious, don't have the heat up unless you want to pay for it, get used to carying a card to unlock your door, and don't even think about getting out of your lease.

Okay, fist of all, confrontations with roommates are not the Pointes fault. It is between you and your roommate to work out issues and if you go into an apartment with some one, its pretty much common sense to get to know that person pretty well in the first place since you know you would be living with them for a year. Second, if you want to get your lease taken over, you have to let the OFFICE know so you can get put on a list so that any one who is looking for a place asap can contact you. It's not enough to just look yourself. Third, I think the key cards are EXTREMELY safe. I would much rather have these than have a normal door lock that any one could break into. And it is possible to take the keys down to the office and have them whole punched so you can put it on a key chain with your car keys so it never gets lost!! WOW! Also, the "break in" that you are referring to was not a break in what so ever. A situation occured where one party of people INVITED another one to their apartment and a confrontation happened. It was a complete domestic dispute, no one went tot he hospital, and neither the management or the complex itself had nothing to do with it. Lastly, if you would do thorough research you would find out that the Pointe actually offers the lowest prices in town and includes almost EVERYTHING. They provied FURNITURE, INTERNET, CABLE, WATER, sewage, trash, and snow removal. They also have a 24 hour clubhouse where you can workout, use the computer labs, or play basketball in their INDOOR COURT! They don't even have to pay an application fee or security deposits!! I personally love it here at the Pointe and I think the office staff is super friendly. In fact, I plan on living here again next year.

I think I'd have to agree with you. The Pointe at Western, though not so close to campus is very convenient because it is on the WMU busline. Not only that, but The Pointe, while doing my research before signing my lease, had the cheapest rates in town, and more specifically for studio apartment, considering the the amenities included, not to mention the furniture. And as for confronting roommates, before you sign a lease, please note that it is common sense and a general rule that when you share an apartment with someone else, you pay half of the utilities or whatever it is you have to pay. Unfortunately, unless you hire a master reader, you will not have a precise conclusion on how much electricity/gas each person is using. The important thing is to be mature and responsible with dealing with your responsibilities that are defined in the lease. But anyhow, I love living at The Pointe-- it is a great place and the staff are very accessible and friendly!
