My apartment smelled of heavy cigarette smoke and cat pee. (I don't smoke and HATE cats!) At my own expense I had to use a special enzyme cleaner to get as much of the piss smell out of my carpet. That smell was especially bad in the bedroom closet. I was told my carpet was steamed before I moved in, but any pet owner knows that steam cleaning only reactivates the horrible cat pee smell - it doesn't eliminate it. I have had my furnace filter replaced hoping to rid my apartment of the smoke because I was beginning to smell like a chain smoker. I ended up needing an air purifier, which can only do so much when my neighbors smoke in the hallways.

My kitchen is falling apart. The cupboards and drawers are falling apart and various kinds of flying insects are living in them. I have been trying to kill them off since I moved in, but they are nest in the wood and cannot be completely exterminated. The fridge is VERY old and I have to keep tape on the doors to keep them shut.

Recently the pool hours were shortened to 9a.m. to 6 p.m. This was because people from the Stadium Drive apartments walk through the trail in the woods on the west end of the property and invite themselves into the pool. (I happened to arrive home as the police were escorting a group of such trespassers from the property.) I was also told that too many residents were bringing more than their allotment of guests to the pool late in the evening. If you're like me and you work during those hours, you'll never get to use the pool during the week. I specifically moved in because it was relatively inexpensive and there was a pool.

I like the layout of the apartment and that there are some surveillance cameras around. They also offer recycling, which is still uncommon for apartments. I have found the office staff to be easy and pleasant to work with. They were very timely in having things fixed in my apartment when asked to do so. However, the cons certainly outweigh the pros. This may be the perfect apartment for a chain smoking, cat loving person who never uses the kitchen and never wants to enjoy the pool.

Your neighbors smoking in a common area (the hallways) is a fire hazard. If it comes to that, call KDPS.
