NOT Recommended and Horrible Management

I lived in a one bedroom apartment at Sycamore Creek for six months while attending college at Oakland University. It was the cheapest apartment I could find in the time I had. It seemed like an alright deal and the apartments weren't in too poor of shape. In the last couple months I was there I realized how poor the management was. Not the staff at the actual apartment because they all seemed nice and helpful but the actually management tried charging me late fees. When my lease was up I moved out *5* days early thinking it would be of help to them and cleaned my apartment and now they are trying to charge me for an extra months rent even though I moved out at the end of my lease. The apartments are very old and unatractive, there is no laundry units in the apartments, there were often cops in the apartment complex which made me feel unsafe, there is only one cable jack in the living room and none in the bedroom, there is no dishwasher, poor lighting, and dirty/cheap fixtures, there is only a dead bolt on the door and no key lock. As a college student and a first time apartment renter they made it into a horrible experience by trying to con me out of hundreds of dollars when I was moved out earlier then my lease agreement, always paid my rent on time, and had no complaints. I think management that would charge someone for living in a unit when they were aware the person was already moved out by the terms of there lease just shows they only care about ripping people off instead of the persons living experience there. Which shows they want bad reviews so people won't rent from them and people that have previously rented from them won't return like I was going to. The $50 to $100 savings you would get isn't worth the hassle with the poor management at Sycamore Creek.

I believe most apartments require you to give them 30 days notice in writing when you are moving out, even if you move out right when your lease ends. If you say nothing, they will assume you are renewing your lease and will charge you for it. I know this was the case when I lived at Sycamore Creek Apartments. Make sure you don't make that mistake when moving out of your next apartment.

Any apartment I have ever lived in has required a 30 day notice.
