The rent is the right price, and it includes heat and hot water, making it quite affordable, but don't expect luxury for that price. My apartment was clean and bright when I moved in, but the buildings are older and not in great shape. My cupboards are VERY old and missing big sections of laminate, and the windows are so cheap that they literally get covered with frost in the winter. Luckily heat is included so I just crank it up to compensate for the draftiness. I can't get cold water in my kitchen sink, the bathroom sink is reversed (left for cold, right for hot), and the shower has two temperatures (freezing, scalding, or alternating quickly back and forth between the two).

My building is quiet, but there are a lot of people who feel the need to race their cars around the parking areas, so I generally fear for my life when I cross the drive to the dumpster. Some more speed bumps might calm this problem. I just look both ways and scurry.

My two biggest complaints are:
1. Delay in repairing anything. The dryer in our building (building TWO if management is reading this!) has been broken since mid-December. It's now mid-February, and it's still not repaired. Luckily all the buildings have washer/dryers, so it's not a huge deal to walk over to another building.

2. Dog owners NEVER clean up after their pets, and no one seems to care at all. The grass areas are covered with poop all the time. Do not walk on the grass! Also, people throw their cigarette butts all over the place, and there are piles below a few balconies.

However, for this price, I feel that I can't complain too much. My unit is quiet and comfortable, and I can try to overlook some of the problems in light of the price I pay.

I haven't completed my lease yet, so I can't speak to how well they do about returning deposits, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I don't run into any problems.
