I'll tell you the truth...

Ok, we've been here a year and a half and here is the scoop. The first apartment, we just thought the people upstairs were loud, obnoxious people. So we moved to a second floor and realized it wasn't them. You can smell cigarette smoke through the walls (I cant keep my closet door closed or everything reeks), can hear your neighbors CLEARLY through the walls, and its evident that the walls around here are cheap and thin. We are kind of on the ghetto side though, so bass music and shouting is a daily thing. If you like your peace and quiet, or are a non-smoker, you can take your chances here, but if you get a bad apartment you will be miserable. I know people in other apartments that are happy, but we aren't. If your neighbor slams the front door the whole building shakes. The management does fix things in a timely fashion but they do a half-assed job of it. The people who paint and clean up take no pride in their work whatsoever. We paid for outside cleaning because of the dirty carpet and stains that were making our sock-bottoms gray (and im not kidding). We are older students, so we are not party people, but need quiet and this place doesnt cut it. A baby crying on the other side of the wall can drive you crazy. Closing doors, running down stairs etc. are normal things to do in your apartment but this place is all wood and drywall so you can hear everything your neighbors do thats remotely noisy. Its not falling apart or anything- I think the buildings are relatively new- I think they just cost about $100 to build. On the good side though, we've never had issue with bugs or mice, the place is neat and plowed in the winter, and the rent is great. The apartments are lovely, but if you move here, I'd clean the place thoroughly first (my bathroom had urine all over the toilet when we moved in) and pay for your own carpet cleaning. I'd love to move again, but in a couple semesters I can move back home and be rid of this place so we make do with the annoyances. For long term living though' No way- I'd have to kill everyone in the building. I'd recommend it if it was temporary but its at your own risk, and I think in a college town, it could be much much worse.

I was thinking on moving ny mother that is 62 to this community. It sounds like there is a good part and a bad part of the complex. What area is most quiet? Do you recommend the complex or is it really going down hill? I spoke to Scott on the phone and he told me that it is not a party communitya although ther is a mix of professinals, singles and students. Help me with thoughts you may have. Thank- you!!
