Things to think about...

Hunt Club is nice and its not terrible, rent is reasonable and its really close to the universtiy. However there are some things to consider. Managment here has always been a little on the shady side so I've never really trusted them farther than I could throw them but it seems to have got worse with the changes in managment. Good rule of thumb no matter where you are renting is to document everything and stay on top of them because they aren't looking out for your interests so you have to do it. They are totally unhelpful if you have a problem and its anywhere near 5 or 6pm so try and catch them in the afternoon. I've never had a problem with maintence, they have always been super helpful and very prompt. They do however do periodic maintence checks of the aparments and although you get a days notice it still weirds me out that they are tromping through my aparment when I'm not home. As far as the building construction, word on the street is that there was a different contractor for different parts of the complex. I can verify that my first apartment was WAY better constructed than my second apartment at hunt club. So make sure you choose what building you are in carefuly. Noise doesn't bother me but my current aparment is definatly less sound proof and doesn't retain heat well at all. There are cracks near the door and although my washer and dryer fit fine in the first apartment they barely fit into the second apartment which is suppose to be designed the same. I can smell cigarette smoke on occassion from upstairs which is somewhat scary. The quality of residents in the complex has continued to go downhill since I first moved in. At first it was mostly young professionals, grad students, and elderly people. Now its well...a little scary...there are trashy people lighting fireworks near buildings for every holiday imaginable, the cops drive through more than ever before, young men dressed like thugs walking around at night, small children unattended runing in front of cars in the parking lot, and apartments with so many people in them that sometimes I think there is an illegal imigrant smuggling operation going on over here. Which leads me to the next problem...with the 10 people in one apartment issue...parking has become a problem...there are very few spots sometimes and there are always random cars that will just sit in the lot for days...no one knows who they belong to but they get left for weeks taking up prime spots. Again I deal with it cause the rent is cheap and its close to school and work for me but definatly lots of issues to consider. If mgt was better and the tennants were not so scary I would not hesitate to reccomend this place even with the shoddy construction. Good Luck.
