Runaway is Alright

Runaway Bay is a nice place to live.

Like any average priced apartment complex, there are ups and there are downs.

If you can ignore how awful the office staff is, you re experience here should be okay.

Colleen is the worst person I have had to deal with.

She was extremely annoying when I was moving in- calling me and using every pressure tactic imaginable to get me to move in as soon as possible even though I was already set on moving here because of some of my family lives in the complex.

It seems like they are just desperate for renters right now because of the bad housing market in Michigan.
They re-glazed the counter tops for me before I moved in, but everything else was a mess.

The fireplace, dishwasher, blinds and screen door were broken when I moved in.

The maintenance staff is very friendly, polite and quick to respond to problems.

My apartment was absolutely filthy when I moved in.

The carpet looked like it had been just vacuumed, not cleaned.

There is dog hair painted to the trim.

The appliances in the kitchen had barely been touched, and the cabinets were full of dust.

Make sure you check your furnace filter too- mine was disgusting even though Colleen insisted it had just been changed.

If you are looking for an apartment that is move-in ready, this is not the complex for you.

(I live in a pet building.

Maybe the non-pet buildings are cleaner.)
Parking is okay, depending on the building you live in.

Snow removal could be a little faster some days, but the sidewalks are usually pretty good.

None of the utilities are included in rent, which makes things a lot pricier.

There are a bunch of extra cable jacks in every room that don t work.

I had to snake a cable across my living room to put the TV in the only logical place for it.

The neighbors are usually pretty quiet.

I get the feeling that I will not get my security deposit back.

Colleen kept telling me that I can hang up as much as I want, almost like she was begging me to put holes in the wall.
Excluding my issues moving in, this has been a great apartment for me, and I plan on renewing my lease.
