Watch out for Management

I have lived in this complex for 4 years, starting in a one bedroom before moving to a 2bedroom unit. I was quite happy with the place, and with the maintenance, but the manageemnt is terrible. This past summer, I had some tile in my shower cave in becasue of how cheaply it was orginally built in the 70s. Being in the building business for 5 years, I know a bit about building materials. They didn't use the proper substrate (i.e., Durock or another cement product) when they hung the tiles in the shower, just MOISTURE RESISTANT DRYWALL. So, when they didn't seal the grout after hanging tiles on it, eventually, the concrete grout (which is porous) lets water through, to get at the drywall. Yes, it is moisture-RESISTANT, but after 20 years of having this water pressed against it, it failed in a 2x3 aread in my shower. The only way I could have caused such uniform damage would be to put on phone book on it and push. Anyway, took my beef to the manager; I was insulted, and basically called a liar. If I wasn't leaving the area on business, I would have moved out right then. I was bumped $250 for this repair, to their shoddy craftsmanship, but really had no choice in the matter. The whole thing just left a bad staste in my mouth. These guys are zoned in straight on your wallet. Beware.....
