A Nice Place

Years at this apartment: 2001 - 2003
We lived in the Polo Club for two years and only once had a problem with them. We enjoyed our stay and would sometimes sit by the pool to relax. All our repairs were fixed within the week, if not sooner. The people are friendly, but not socialable as they tend to stay inside.
Located in Marshall, perhaps the safest little town in Michigan, it would be impossible to feel any kind of fear about crime in the area. At worst, some punk kids might TP the trees around the apartments.
The apartments are nice, but nothing special. There's balconies on the upper floors, but they're kind of small. The entrance to the 1 bedroom and probably 2 bedroom apartments could be a bit more open, but it isn't a big problem.
The walls are quite thin. We had two different neighbors while we were there, and could hear some things some of the time. We lived on the top floor, but imagined that if we lived below we might hear the goings on above us.
The one problem we had was when we wanted to move out. We had no indication that we needed to sign a 30-day intent to vacate form, especially since we were on a month-to-month lease (that was nice). When we decided to move two weeks into the month, the apartment guru wanted us to pay the next month's rent. The office staff thought that was unnecessary, but were forced to comply with their boss. After trying to work it out, we left without picking up our security deposit and did not pay the next month's rent. We received only a few calls about it that we ignored.
Overall, we would have continued to live there if it were closer to our employment.
