It was great while it lasted-my work transferred me!

I really enjoyed living here. It was close to work, the staff was friendly and helpful, the area was nice, and the apartment was great! I wouldn't have moved if I hadn't been transferred for work, which they helped make a smooth transition. The complex is old, built in the 1950's if I remember correctly, but everything is well maintained. I did have a couple of issues, but they were taken care of promptly. I had a short in my bedroom light, and they came out the next day to not just fix it, they replaced it with a new fixture and changed the one in the second bedroom to match! I rarely heard the neighbors, just a little bit of walking around in the bedroom and on the stairs outside the apartment if I was in the living room (which is closest to the door anyway). I loved the layout of the kitchen-two doorways made moving around a cinch. The complex is within walking distance of several restaurants and it's a block away from the Midland High School, which has facilities you can use. The neighborhood is great for walking and biking, and the street has minimal traffic. Every apartment has an assigned, covered parking space, with extra that are uncovered for a second vehicle. The grounds are nicely landscaped and well maintained-especially in winter! Great lighting all around at night. New central air conditioners and furnaces- very efficient and quiet. Also, there is a well-maintained pool for resident and guest use. A wooded area is on one side of the complex (where my apartment was), so there's a great view and a lot of birds.
Problems: Neighbors aren't really friendly. Everyone keeps to themselves, which is fine if you have friends in the city already. It's hard for someone moving there not knowing anyone. People tend to drive through the complex pretty fast, so watch your step. Also, hardly anyone is good about picking up after their dogs, and management doesn't enforce it, so keep to the sidewalks. No problems with the apartment itself. Just make sure to rent a second floor unit because the first floor are garden level and you watch people's feet out the window.
