I moved into the three bedroom apartments in Wetern Island Apartments, with one roommate for the 2007-2008 school year. After living in the apartments for about two months we started to get phone calls from United apartments about moving out, so they could tear down the buildings and build new ones. I had a huge problem with this because the reason I picked to live in Western Island apartments was because it was extremely close to campus, and neither my roommate or I had a car at the time. Well of course United apartments offered to move me and my roommate into another apartment, and we had agreed on a place that was still close to campus. I figured we were getting a great deal because they were going to move us into a five bedroom townhouse. So this was great! I was paying $255 a month for a five bedroom townhouse. Well everything was decided and we were getting ready to move, when we get a call saying that we can no longer move into our new place, and we will have to move into Deerfield or Jamestown. Well both of those places are about a mile from campus, and I am involved in activities that keep me on campus until 10:00pm, when the shuttle bus is no longer inservice. So needless to say they kicked us out, said we had a place to live then told us we didn't. It wasn't until we told them that we wanted our money back, (we both paid the full year up-front) that they decided that we could move into the five bedroom townhouse. This whole process of finding out that we were getting kicked out to when we moved in went on for about three weeks. So not only was I dealing with midterms but I was trying to find a way to keep a roof over my head. It was extremely stresful for someone's very first time living out of an apartment.
