Poor building quality, misleading staff, poor maintenance response

I have a few complaints about Singh Apartments at Main Street Village. We signed a 90 day lease (which we thought was month to month) for furnished townhome w/ garage.

1. We also feel we were mislead regarding the length of the lease. Be very careful if you sign with them. We are being forced to pay over 1 month's rent even though we gave 30 days advance notice (unless they re-rent the unit before then). The management would not work with us for a solution. Legally, we signed the contract, but we thought we were signing a month to month contract due to the apartment search correspondence.
2. The quality of our building and grounds in general is poor. Large gaps in the cracked concrete sidewalks and driveways, windows hard to open, creaky floors, master bathroom door was impossible to close, apartment was not thoroughly cleaned before we moved in.
3. We made an emergency call to maintenance because a leaky roof started dripping water into the smoke alarm in the master bedroom at 3:20 in the morning, causing it to sound. After 3 calls to the emergency number, maintenance finally showed up smelling of alcohol, at 5:30 am and disabled the smoke alarm.
4. The workout room is a complete joke. The bicycle is a broken, 1980's era beast, unusable. If you try to run both treadmills at the same time, the circuit breaker trips.

* They do have a decent playground for little ones, and the tennis courts looked to be in good shape. Landscaping and building exteriors were attractive, but again the sidewalks and driveways were troublesome with a stroller or walking at night. Lots of cars parked on the street.

I have lived in Mainstreet for 3 years and I have yet to see anything described above. The maintenance staff have always been curtious and ontime. The grounds from what I have seen are a step above all other apartment communities I have ever seen. I don't know how many people ask me how I like living here because they are interested in moving here because the curb appeal is outstanding! I have 2 kids and the playgrounds are always kept up nice, no problems. If they want to talk about cars parked on the street. In a normal housing neighborhood cars are parked on the street. You should be glad you have a garage and you can park on the street verses having a parking lot like most apartments, or for that matter car ports. This is just someone clearly upset because they wanted to break a lease earlier than they expected. They should read everything they sign before they sign it. This is my 3rd year, and I will be signing another because of the management and maintenance staff and because I can be guaranteed that any problem I have at anytime of the day will be fixed when I need it fixed. I would say to this person "Who are you going to complain to when you own your own house!"

For Mainstreeter07. If you have children you really need to move into a house. I mean, how tacky.
