For everyone who put "Would not recommend" why dont you try putting your name instead of "Anonymously"' They have a total of 800 units, and for those who can do math thats an upwards of 1400 tenants, for the 3 PEOPLE that work the front office thats quite a hand full! When you call in a maintenance request do you personally have to pay for the repairs' I dont think so. So why are you complaining' If you owned a house and your dryer, washer, stove, fridge, ect stopped working.. how much would you pay then' As for the people that have select problems with their apartments, they do the best they can to help you out, Did you let them know what the problem was' Did you wait 2 months before calling about it' Did you call and yell at the person that answered the phone even though they dont actually do anything but write down the issue' Think about what your saying before you put it up here! Ask yourself these questions first: Were you a rude person' Did you take care of the apartment to the best of your ability' Did you expect everyone to handle everything for you'

Oh please! I lived at portsmouth for 2 years so I know how it REALLY is there. The first year I had no complaints whatsoever. But the second year my apartment was infested with those terrible silverfish bugs. And also were my neighbors. I even knew people that lived like 10 buildings away in phase 2 that had the bugs. They came to spray a total of 4 times and it did nothing but got worse. The beginning of the 2nd year there, my vaulted celing had a huge yellow stain on it from the melted snow from winter. I called atleast 10 times to have it fixed. I was embarrassed to have people come over my home the stain was so huge. They said (in jan 07) I had to wait until spring for it to get fixed. I moved out in sept 07 and the stain was still on the wall when I left. Back to the bugs.... One maintenence guy even admitted to me after spraying that "The silverfish are infested in the walls, theres nothing much we can do about it". Everytime I drive by portsmouth, I cringe. I live in a much better novi community now and suggest anyone looking into moving into this place...dont do it.

The only reason you'd want names is if you worked for the management company in some capacity. People using this site to learn information about an apartment complex can't do anything with full names of posters.
I'm looking to move in two months, and I've been using this site to find a place. While I agree that people complain about a lot of dumb things and that they often do not have any patience, your post is worse. Nothing turns me away from an apartment complex sooner than seeing a management company make a post on a website pressing people for personal information and defending their bad services with a "we're busy!" speech. Intelligent people will read the dumb complaints and move on, knowing that there will always be people that expect everything handed to them. But this post shows me that the management team at Portsmouth can't own up to their own mistakes, and that when I have a legitimate complaint, it will be met with the same kind of aggressiveness and defensiveness.
It's too bad, because Portsmouth was my top pick.
