My boyfriend and I signed a lease in 1/03. We paid our rent from Jan-June. Then we got a statement saying we had a credit of $2000. I personally took our lease and the statement to the accountant at ROW to find out the story. He said that we should have been paying $400 less per month and that is how the credit accumulated. He told me that we were misinterpreting our lease and from now on we should pay our rent based off of the statements. So we did. We did so for 5 months. Then in November ROW discovered they had made a big data entry error in their accounting system. I was called in and they said they wanted my boyfriend and I to cough up the $5000 from the past months. Keep in mind we paid the full amount for the first several months and they literally GAVE us back $2000. And it took that many months for them to catch their own error and they expect us to pay for it. We said we would not do that - it just wasn?t fair for us to be penalized for their error. We tried to compromise several times with the staff. This did not work. All that happened was that we were bullied and threatened by the property mgr and then we were issued a summons for us to appear in court. The property manager - the one who the other tenant wrote about being heartless regarding putting up signs for her lost cat. He actually threatened to call my boyfriends place of employment and tell them they are employing a person who can?t even follow a contract. I asked repeatedly - Do you honestly think it is right for ROW not to take any responsibility for their error'' He repeatedly said YES. He is a very, very unprofessional and unreasonable person. We are very reasonable people. We offered to pay back the rent less the $2000 they gave back. But he wouldn?t take it. He didn?t even give the courtesy of a response - the only response to our offer was in the form of the court summons. So now we are off to court on 12/15. Since we got the summons on 12/10 we have tried to settle out of court again ? this got us nowhere. In addition we received the summons after work on Wednesday 12/10 and are now expected to be in court at 1:30pm on Monday 12/15. Not a whole lot of time to prepare. I think we deserve some justice though. I do not think we should have to give ROW any additional money for their error. DO NOT GIVE YOUR MONEY TO ROW - THE PROPERTY MGR WILL NOT TREAT YOU WITH RESPECT. He does not care for his tenants and customer service that is for sure. I?ll keep everyone updated on this situation. I know that a lot of people think this type of site is to vent as I am now ? but I truly would not recommend anyone live here for fear you would have to deal with the same crap we did. The property mgr is a jerk ? if you live there you have to deal with him. Please listen to us!!!!!!!! We are normal everyday people. I am a buyer at an automotive company and my boyfriend is an engineer for an auto company. We make good money ? that is not the issue here. It is the principle of the issue. He is tall, thin, greasy dark hair, smoker, drives a black passat, dresses in a suit, is ethnic of some sort and is NOT A NICE PERSON. Oh and he has a wierd 3-lettered name.
