As my movers were unloading the truck, the floor drain in the laundry/utility room began backing up. I should have loaded everything back on the truck right then.
A week later the same thing happened, but the damage was more extensive than the first time.

Twice In the winter I had frozen water pipes, once in the kitchen, and once in the laundry room.

In the spare bedroom, water from a leaky roof did substantial damage to one of the walls.

This ground-floor apartment was infested with mice (twice) and an astonishing variety of bugs seemed to find their way in from the outside. I was never able to determine how the mice and the bugs got in, but I expect that very shoddy construction left lots of little openings for them.

Sound control between apartments is nearly non-existent, and was my chief complaint. I could hear the neighbors on both sides and upstairs, clearly and constantly.

For all of these concerns, the management expressed only marginal concern. Some were addressed eventually, others were not corrected at all.

River Oaks West is visually impressive, but it is all superficial. The quality of the construction is extremely poor and the complex is managed and maintained like a downscale trailer park.

River Oaks West is a bad place to live, and you're very likely to be disappointed, at best, if you buy their sales pitch. There are much better rental units available in Novi, and you will be wise to seek them out.
