What you are reading from others is true: Renting from River Oaks West is a mistake, and they will find a way to make it YOUR mistake.

The apartments themselves look great. The Premiums (and even the Hybrids) are damn near gorgeous. That's the last nice thing you'll experience here.

The Sales Staff is unethical; they'll tell you everything you need to hear, and won't return calls after you sign the paperwork. The Property Assistants are 50/50; depends with whom you work, because there WILL be problems. The Property Manager(s) are borderline illegal; their unfriendliness and incompetence will leave you without any responses to the aforementioned problems.

During my 16-month stay, I had two mailboxes, a handful of near-accidents on the parking lot ice, a half-dozen visits by an ant exterminator, and two floods. One flood was immediately after moving in, due to faulty plumbing with no testing. The second left a ring throughout the entire apartment, ranging 1/2" to 1" above the floor, from frozen pipes above and over one apartment. I have documented the "hard wood" laminate edges curling from each flood, and I have had the Property Manager walk-through the apartment after each. Promises were made to correct this, and they remained damaged until the day I moved out.

There are a number of great apartment complexes throughout Novi, Northville and the area. Do yourself a favor and never walk through the gate at River Oaks West.
