Do your homework

Years at this apartment: 2002 - 2004
After living here for three years, I am finally moving. The windows leak and are very drafty. I have to set my heat at 80 degrees just to get the temperature up to 70, in the winter. The dumpsters are overfilled even though the trash is picked up twice a week. Tenants thow EVERYTHING in the dumpster, furniture, bbq's, matresses. It has turned into more of a junk yard than a trash receptacle. The walls are very thin and you can hear your neighbors talking, sneezing, laughing, neighbors having private intimate moments at 4:00 AM on a weeknight when you have to be up at 6:00 AM. I have not slept through the night since I moved here. If you have a person in the building that smokes, you will smell it in your apartment. The tenants don't use the carports, they prefer parking in the unassigned spots - so don't plan on having friends or family visit, since they will have to park far away. Insects and bees enter my apartment even when the windows are closed. This is probably due to the cracks around the sliding doors. The tenants also think that putting their child's toys on their patio/balcony/carport is a good idea. I am embarrassed to invite people over because the of this. Management is not helpful. My mailbox lock has been changed three times since I moved here because some maintenance idiot changed the lock on my mailbox instead of the new tenant's mailbox. Maintenance will come if you have a request, however, it may take two to three visits to correct the problem. Overall, do your homework - read all you can before you decide to rent at any apartment complex. It may take some time and effort, but it will be well worth it.
