Dont move here unless you have no other choice

Years at this apartment: 2002 - 2003
I moved to Northgate which is now called Bridgewater Village, in February 2002. This was my first move here and they seemed ok at first glance. They were not the best, but they were not the slums either. I saw the inside of some of the buildings, but I didnt like the feel that any of them gave me. There was only one building out there that I liked and thought was decent. I told the woman in the office that if I could not get into that specific building then there would be no need for me to apply. Well I got into that building and I liked it at first. Everything in the apartment was brand new.( Only to find out that the building had previously burned down) Things were fine the first couple of months. Then I started to smell the people across the hall from me and the guy downstairs would not turn his music down. That still wasnt too bad. My best friend liked my apartment and decided to apply out there. I told her that all the apartments did not look like mine, so please beware. Well she moved out there but when I saw her apartment I could not believe what I saw. It looked like a two family flat on the eastside of Detroit. She had a hole in her floor, her kitchen was dingy yellow, and she had roaches. I could not beleive what I saw. I talked to one of the handymen out there and he told me that it wasnt that my friend had one of the worst buildings out there, but that I was in one of the best. He said that all the buildings were like hers and that I got lucky. They are really old buildings with poor ventilation. If you cook bacon or chicken, your apartment will smell like that for days. I dont have one good thing to say about Bridgewater Village. They loose your rent money. They will tell you that you did not pay. The hot water goes out in the winter. And the summer time is the worst. There are so many buildings out there, I had no idea the complex was so big. People just stand outside all hours of the night. The office staff went so far as to call the sheriff's department and to put NO LOITERING signs on the buildings. How ghetto is that' The walls are thin. You can hear a conversation as if you were in the room with the people downstairs. When I first moved there my apartment had not been cleaned. I had to call them to clean my apartment and the cleaning lady half cleaned it. She did not even mop or sweep. I had to ask her to mop, and do you wanna know what she did' She poured some pine sol on the floor and wiped it up with paper towel. If this is your only option then I can understand. But if you have a choice, please dont chose there. They are truley triffling and ghetto. They have a bad reputation and you may have already heard things about them, and believe me, they are true!!! My lease is up in Feb and needless to say, I am moving and not looking back.
