GOD SHOULD STRIKE DOWN AND SET THIS PLACE A-BLAZIN'

Here are the full details of my horrible experience at Bridgewater, now known as PROVIDENCE GREEN APARTMENTS (BEWARE). I've even called and emailed news channels with no response. Maybe we all should call on the same day and get some results from someone. What about this NEW ownership. She's not responsible for anything before 12-20-2006. What a joke. I think she bought herself alot of problems. The HAYMAN COMPANY also needs to answer to the pain they have inflicted on the residents. Feel free to email me after you read this:

To: The Hayman Company Management, Supervisors and Ms. Karen Roe

From: Sharon (Current Tenant of Bridgewater Apts., Now known as Providence Green Apartments as of 12/20/06)

RE:--Bridgewater Apartment Complex
--Demand for Possession letter
--Bed Bug Infestation of building and complex

Dear Ms. Rowe

I was very optimistic when I received your phone call on 12/6/06, but my optimism faded after I received no response or return call from you in regards to this major problem that I am having as a tenant of one of your properties. I have been trying to have this bed bug problem rectified in an expeditious manner since October, 2006. I am very troubled by the lack of professionalism in the leasing office of the Bridgewater Complex. My bad experiences began after I paid my monies to move in, but before I ever got to move in. As a previous Landlord and Manager of three (3) properties, a Legal Secretary and someone who has made a career in the professional world, I have extensive knowledge about property maintenance as well as requirements placed on landlords by the law. I am also very aware that the human factor involved with providing a home for individuals or families is very important during these trying and hard times in Michigan.

My troubles began when I paid my monies to move in on
August 29, 2006. Of course there were prorated fees for me to move in two (2) days before September, as well as the full amount of rent for that month. Upon my arrival to the apartment, I noticed that all of the promises that were made to me, in regards to the repairs that needed to be done, were not followed through on. The bathroom was completely unusable, as was the kitchen. My children and I were not able to spend our first night in the apartment until Saturday,
September 16, 2006. This caused a great hardship as I have a full time job (5 days a week 40hours), a part-time job (3 nights a week) and I am a part time student (3 nights a week). Since I had already given my monies to your agents to move in, I did not have any money for accommodations for my children and me. I was forced to leave my children with relatives and I had to stay with different friends and sleep on their couches in order to still go to work and school. There are still repairs in my apartment that need to be done, but when I call about them, I m told that someone will be out to take care of it or a work order will be written up and submitted to maintenance. After living in Bridgewater for close to three (3) months;
---I requested that the window in my children s room (master bedroom) be replaced as it was not safe. The screen popped out of the window the day I moved my furniture in on 8/29/06. The windows in the front of my apartment (living room and small bedroom) were replaced, but the window that I was most concerned with was not. As a result, my children suffered from frequent colds due to the draft of air that was coming in the window. When I mentioned this to the men who were replacing the other windows, their response was to caulk the window in a way that does not allow it to be opened. I believe this is a very hazardous way to live.
---I do not have a hood fan in my kitchen.
---The tiles on the floor of my kitchen came up the first day I was able to sleep in the apartment.
---There is mold growing under the soap dish in my bathtub/shower. The caulking around the bathtub is coming off.
---There are holes in all of the walls of the closets in the bedrooms.
---Painting was very bad. Painters painted over stickers, dirt, dust, pennies, old food, macaroni noodles and many other items that were not cleaned up by the cleaning staff prior to the painters arriving. This is very unprofessional.
---The building hallways, basement and laundry areas are filthy and are not cleaned on a regular basis. I was told that things like that are maintained on a daily and weekly basis. There are pieces of the ceiling on the floor in the basement of my building and it is soaking up the water that is leaking from the sink and growing mold.

I have enclosed a complete list of dates and everything that took place on each date pertaining to the bed bug situation. I have also enclosed a copy of the Demand for Possession which I feel and believe adds INSULT TO INJURY, which was no fault of my own. Also enclosed are receipts for monies paid for hotel stays and supplies needed in order to comply with ROSE Exterminator Company procedures ($554.62). I also spent $60.00 to wash laundry that may have been infested by the bed bugs. In addition, I missed two (2) days of work (12/5 and 12/6) from my full-time job, in the amount of $155.00, and one (1) day of work from my part-time job in the amount of $20.85 for a total of $175.85 missed work. I have also lost valuable instruction and learning time because of two (2) missed days of court reporting school.
The total amount I have spent and/or lost is:
$790.00

As a very hard working, single mother of two (2) young children, I cannot afford to spend this type of money on problems that arise due to your company and Bridgewater staff not aggressively and expeditiously handling complaints made by tenants about bed bugs or otherwise. This has taken an extreme toll on my children and me. I had hoped to have this problem rectified long before now, but, there seems to be a lack of communication and professionalism within The Hayman Company and the Bridgewater Staff.

I became aware, after the bug problem arose in my apartment, that the bed bug problem existed long before I ever moved into the Bridgewater complex, and I am very confident that this is not a problem that myself or my children caused. I'm also concerned that your company and its employees have no problem with, telling people what they want to hear, in order to get peoples money. Even if it means that a mother and her children may suffer terrible effects. I feel as though I was lied to and deceived in the worst way imaginable throughout this entire fiasco of events. I have enclosed copies of me and my son s discharge papers from visits to the hospital. My daughter was being bitten also, but did not have allergic reactions to the bites as my son and I did. You will also find a copy of three (3) prescriptions given to me by the Doctor to treat bug bites that became infected and for itching and pain.

Please note that I have enclosed the original print-out, which I obtained online on 12/1/06, about Bed Bugs, Biology and Management. Please notice the highlighted and underlined areas of the print-out. I hope that this has been and will be informative enough for us to come to a positive conclusion to this matter. I am hoping to hear from your office or management in the very near future. If I do not, then I will have to pursue other avenues as I know your company will probably pursue legal action in regards to the unpaid rent. I do not feel that I owe this because; the reasons for my actions were not caused by me.

Also, please be aware that as of November, 2006 I had a $143.00 credit with your company. Please be advised also that I will possibly be forwarding copies of all of these documents to top position holders within The Hayman Company: Mr. John Pitrone, Vice President of Property Management, Mrs. Cheryl Buol, National Director of Property Management, and Mr. Dan Rees, Regional Manager which I was told is the position that you hold. I do not know if this information is correct or not, and was given to me in error, or intentionally.
Please review the documents I have included and contact me once you have thoroughly reviewed them all. Thank You in advance for your prompt attention to this matter.

FOR BRIDGEWATER VILLAGE APARTMENTS
SHARON

10/12/06 --Noticed first bug bites. Called office and spoke with Novelette.
No information to give me.

10/23/06 --More bug bites on legs and children had bites as well. Called office again, spoke with Novelette.
No results.

11/03/06 --More bug bites on legs and arms of children and self.
Called office, spoke with Novelette.
No results.

11/07/06 --More bug bites on behind, and legs of children and self. Went to office and showed Novelette bug bites on arms and back of neck. Feeling very tired and fatigued. Headache, body aches.
Informed her of condition and stated that I was going to the hospital. She asked that I inform her of what the Dr. said upon my release. Dr. said bug bites are causing allergic reactions and viral syndrome.

11/08/06 --Spoke with Novelette and relayed Drs. findings for my son and myself. She stated that she and the exterminator went to inspect my apartment and found nothing. First time inspecting since first call on 10/12/06.

11/11/06 --Spoke with neighbors and found building has bed bugs and had them before I ever moved in 9/17/06. Neighbor informed me that their bed and couch are infested with bed bugs which was determined by ROSE Pest Control Company.

11/12/06 --Purchased bug spray and cleaning supplies.

11/21/06 --Saw bed bug crawling across bed; killed and discarded.

11/27/06 --More bug bites on legs and arms.
Went to office and showed Assistant Manager-Darius as well as other staff that was in the office at the time. Upon viewing the swollen areas on both of my arms, their response was one of utter shock. I explained to them that I am allergic to the bites and with each bite, my allergic reactions worsen. Promised to look into it and find out the results of ROSE inspection. I asked if they could set up fumigation even if no bugs are found. I know I m being bitten by bed bugs, I saw one crawling across my bed. No response.

11/29/06 --More bug bites on arms legs and behind.

11/30/06 --Called Novelette to inform her of continual bites. She stated that she would call exterminator.

12/01/06 --Went online to look up bed bugs and found extensive information, including picture. Spoke with Novelette and ROSE exterminator on speaker phone. Described bug, and Novelette stated that it was bed bugs. Exterminator stated he will be out Monday or Tuesday to fumigate .. Received call from exterminator later that day stating instructions for preparing for fumigation.

12/04/06 --To hospital again for fatigue, headaches, whole body aches, itching and infected bug bites. Dr. prescribed antibiotics, benadryl, and darvocet for pain. Dr. suggested that I not return to the apartment until it has been fumigated and problem has been rectified as allergic reactions will only worsen with each new bug bite. Went to a hotel for the night. I only expected to stay for one or two nights, but the exterminator did not come to fumigate until Wednesday, 12/6/06. Spoke with exterminator later in the evening and he stated that he would try to come out on Thursday. I explained to him that I was staying in a hotel room until my apartment is fumigated and could he do it any sooner than Thursday. He stated he could do it Wednesday morning or afternoon.

12/05/06 --Missed work at both jobs to get fully prepared for fumigation.
Called Novelette to inform her why my rent was not paid and that it was used for a hotel room for me and my children. Also informed her of Dr. s suggestion to not return to apartment until fumigation was performed. She stated she can t approve the reason I did not pay the rent and that she would speak with Karen in the corporate office and that Karen will contact me.

12/6/06 --Missed work again, waiting for fumigators. They found no bed bugs, nests, or eggs. Arrival time was after 2:00 p.m. Informed me to purchase a zippered, plastic or hypoallergenic bed cover for my mattress and box spring. Also was told to purchase a humidifier, as the bed bugs do not attract to moisture. I was told that if I did all of this, I should have no more problems with bed bug bites.
--Received a call from Karen in the Hayman Groups corporate office. I explained the situation to her and she stated that she would call me back after speaking with Novelette and ROSE exterminator. Karen never called back to inform me of any results.

12/7/06 --Returned home with no new bug bites.

12/8/06 --New bug bites on hand, arm and stomach.
