Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2006
My initial year was delightful with minimal issues (someone broke into my vehicle). I still decided to renew my lease. I have had my vehicle broken into two times after that, and my apartment was broken into three times (I was living in the bottom apt. unit).
I asked the leasing office if I could change apartments due to my families safety and well-being. Not only were they not sensitive to my issues, but I had to pay an additional fee to move and my rent went up from $515 to $560.
I own two vehicles that are registered with the apartment complex. My truck has been twoed a total of three times in the last year, twice in the last 30 days. My vehicle is driveable but did not have an updated license plate. I asked the leasing office about this and first it was said that a tenant complained about my vehicle. Secondly, I was told that this is the new procedure since the law for towing vehicles has changed. I have then went around and looked for vehicles with expired tags (which were sitting in the same spot for (2) years since I moved into the unit. Some of the tags are from (believe this) 1996, my tag expired on my birthday. Therefore either someone is receiving kickbacks from the towing company (they just changed towing companies - the previous one charged $75, the new one charges $190 - check into this, plus $25 a day for storage outside and $50 a day storage inside, plus the $25 fee for the police station, which is closed on Thursday and my vehicle has been towed on WEdnesdays, thus increasing my storage fee. To top it off, my vehcile has been towed several days out from the time rent is due. I pay my rent on-time every month and I just can't figure this out.
After I spoke with the regional manager about the last tow, she kindly applied my cost to this month's rent. But now I have to pay again. Even after, I told the property manager (even in my termination letter), that I was going to move to their property in Farmington Hills. Do you think I am moving there now - definitely not.
Just think twice before you move to any of their complexes and better yet, ask if you can have a copy of the leasing agreeement.
They have some issues to iron out and once they do, this apartment complex may be better for the working families to reside in.
The complex is in excellent position to access the I-75 highway.
