I have lived in Village Park of Auburn Hills for two years now. I live by myself on the third floor and I have really enjoyed living here. I was a student at OU as well so I chose the apartment for the convenient location.
Positives: The staff is super friendly and maintenance responds quickly to problems. People have accused the apartments of being dirty but honestly, the residents trash things and the staff can only clean up so quickly. For example, inside I found a cigarette butt on the stairs, my neighbors leave their trash in the hallway for days on end (which smells like you know what) and people constantly throw garbage on the grass outside. I see the staff outside working hard, but come on, if people took a little pride in where they live, the staff could perhaps keep up. I also have a great microwave, stove, and dishwasher, and the heat is included in the rent which in Michigan, is a big plus. The parking lots are well lit and the one time I did have to call the Pontiac police (for a non-violent incident) they responded quickly. The pool and the clubhouse are very nice as well and they have a raquetball court too.
Negatives: The water in the showers is terrible temperature-wise. It does go from scalding hot to freezing cold without any warning and I have had the maintenance over MANY times to try to fix it but ... sadly they can't make it work. There is NO ventilation in my bathroom so I have to shower with the window open, even in the dead of winter and I did have a mold problem. The blinds fall down.... if you live here you know what I mean.
All in all, I would recommend living here. It seems like the people who run this place really care about it and although they are sometimes fighting a losing battle (cleaning up messes that people make as quickly as they can), they do care and seem to make a real effort to make Village Park a nice place to live.
