This place is really low class.

The neighbors range from nice to frightening. You could usually count on a 2am argument between tennants and their significant others. The cops were by our building about 3 times per week.

The exterior is run down with rotting wood and broken concrete/ashpalt.

The interior... well, the ceiling was sagging and the cabinets were falling apart. Speaking of which, I hypothesized that the carpenter who made the cabinets utilized a chain saw for cuts and forgot to make measurments. Honestly, the cabinets grew 2 inches longer from one side of the kitchen to the other. The carpet has a lovely 1970s soiled shag look. The furnace kept going out- one morning I woke up and could see my breath. When showering, you must stand ready to jump out from the water, as the temperature frequently changes. Which reminds me, the water was filthy; at first I thought it was just the City of Portage, but I have since moved next door to the Village Green Apartments and found the water to be clear and drinkable. The footsteps from the apartment above me were quite loud, even though the tennant was no thunderfoot at about 180lbs. The doors and windows were very drafty.

Now, you would think that a place like this would come with the benefit of a low price, however $500 per month is really not competative. You can find an equally miserable place in portage for a lot less. For about $50 a month more, you can find places in Portage that don't have the "abandoned prison" theme going.
