These are about the cheapest apartments in Portage. Keeping that in mind, you're going to get a rough crowd, lots of young people and riff raff. The first people that lived across the hall from me were crack addicts who got evicted. The second people had the cops over every other day because the guy beat his girlfriend senseless. The lady downstairs is a raging alcoholic who is just as likely to be found passed out in the parking lot as in her apartment. The apartments are a little outdated, if you don't mind a pea green kitchen. If you must live there, live on the top floor, that is very quiet, you can't hear next to you or below you. Anything in the middle is horrid, you can hear every footstep, the tv, anything. The management is aweful. Keep a copy of every check you send for rent because they'll send you a nasty letter telling you that you haven't paid rent and when you show them that you have, they go through this huge hassle and charge you late fees anyways. The parking lot is in shambles, chunks of cement falling apart and potholes galore. There is plenty of space in it though, no assigned spots or visitor parking. The maintenance is horrible. The screen door on the balcony blew off in a storm and they accused us of ripping it off. Once they decided to give us a new one,it took them 8 months to get a new one. The ceiling leaked in the bathroom through a patch already there and all they did was patch it again. The laundry facilities would be okay if the machines would work once in awhile. In general you can count on hot water, but it's very sporatic sometimes, getting super hot or super cold without changing it yourself. If you want to save money on rent, spend a little more and find somewhere else to go.
