It's only a facade

I subleased an apartment from someone else and assumed everything was going to go alright. They never gave me a copy of the lease (which I am not sure I ever actually signed officially) and then ended up charging me extra $$ because of something in the lease I never knew about. When I tried to DISCUSS it with them, they told me that arguing wouldn't help anything and treated me like a child. There is a very nice facade and the people act nice in the office, but they definitely are not.

The grounds are disgusting. There is trash everywhere and they don't pick it up. They just mow over it. The neighbors are extremely loud and there have been police here three times in the last week. Two weeks ago there was a policeman in my backyard at midnight searching for someone/something.

The apartments themselves are not very good either. Everything is old (my appliances are avocado green). The dishwasher leaked all over the floor twice. Maintenance has been fairly fast when I call them, but the people from whom we are subleasing said they had put in two maintenance calls that never got fixed. Also, as soon as the snow was gone, there were bugs coming in from every possible crevice. The back "patio" is more of a mud pit because it is just grass and the gutter empties into it.

Overall, this apartment complex is terrible. They act nice at first, but then when things started to go wrong on their end, they turned on me. If you don't mind loud neighbors, dirty grounds, rude staff, and policemen in your backyard at midnight, you might love it here, but I seriously doubt anyone will.

Yep, sounds right to me. The hallways of the apartment are filthy. Complaints about the neighbors and stuff are taken to the office, but they don't deal with it, the realty agent does. I see the police here once a day at least for various reasons. I remember the police were in my building two or three times in one week this past summer. And I remember that night around midnight and a little bit later they had the spotlights out and digging through trash bins and everything. Not the mention the loudness of the neighbors, the trash that lays around in the grass and they just mow it over chopping it into more pieces, and not only do the buildings smell like people are smoking crack, but they're filthy, AND some kids that live in the crossings complex broke into the laundry room and almost set it on fire with firecrackers! Needless to say, I am moving out as soon as my lease is up and will not be returning.
