I first moved into River Oaks in March of 1989. I will be moving out at the end of June, 2003. Yes, fourteen years at one Apartment complex should speak volumes. I love River Oaks, and I will miss it. This place is nestled into an ancient river valley. River Oaks is bordered by the Oakland University golf course, and by private homes valued from $250K to 800K. Summers are like living at a resort. Pool parties are professionally catered, and the live music plays from a stage that juts out over a steep bluff that looks down on a river winding in and out of sight through ancient Oak trees. The Apartments are well laid out. My kitchen has produced countless world-class gourmet meals (I have been told). Maintenance calls are responded to promptly by qualified personnel. Lawn mowing, and snow removal are prompt, and complete. The grounds are landscaped as an expensive Estate would be. The management staff are professional, while being friendly. They uphold the feeling of community that one senses when they first step in the door. The General Manager seems to know every resident's name, and she is always accessable for complaints as well as compliments. On the negative, Apartments are Apartments, and not private homes. Noisy neighbors who inconsiderate can be a problem, and the buildings at River Oaks could be much more soundproof then they are. In conclusion, I would reccommend River Oaks to anyone who wants to live well in a beautiful setting that is well located.
