900 a month for 700 sq feet is a lot of money in this area.

It is even more when the heat is out for 2 weeks straight, 4 separate times!!! They will lie to you about everything.

I did some freelance work for them and they paid me 4 months late, and the check bounced! They are having major fiance issues.

With that they will treat there tenets like ----.

They owe me 2430$.

Do expect to see your security deposit back or explanation of why you did not get it back.

They are a shady company...

I know of 4 buildings are infested with rats! Call any pest control office in Royal Oak, MI and they will tell you the company is overwhelmed with rats.

They just do not take care of the buildings, just do cosmetic work.

I don't buy this -- I call disgruntled former renter! I have done freelance work for Urbane and have been paid well and regularly. They didn't even make me pay a security deposit. Also, it's funny how only one person in a building of 35 units complains abou the heat. It went out once last year, and a staff member personally delivered a portable heater to my unit before I even noticed. Also, all maintenance requests are handled within 24 hours, and the owner personally emails you (with his cell phone number!) to follow up on it the next week. Re the rent -- it's higher than others, but the location is awesome and the amenities are nice too. Rats = lie. Which building? I don't buy it.

It is interesting that for once it's the complainer who uses their name, and the reassuring skeptic who is anonymous!

Hey "I don't buy this", the reviewer is right about Urbane. There were several residents who complained about the ongoing heat problems, so you must be one of the residents who was too lazy to speak up to management. I hope you're enjoying those $130/month heating bills for your freezing studio apt, not to mention the slew of other problems Urbane seems to ignore. Trust me, when you lose heat, hot water, a/c, internet, laundry facilities - those shiny granite countertops and fake hardwood floorings start to lose their gleam.

Hello, Just wanted to respond to this thread, We have had some growing pains at Urbane for sure, and as everyone knows this has been a tough economy. The good news is that we have learned a lot, and we are improving everyday, and we are still here, in business. I apologize for the negative experience you had at Urbane. We do get a lot of push back for resident paid utilities, and we understand the frustration at the cost of gas and electric. I will point out that the folks locally renting condos are able to do that because the developer went broke and is now out of business, and the units are now bank owned because the units wouldn't sell because of this economy. These for sale units were converted to for rent units, thus affording a significantly below market product for renters. A great deal for the renter, just keep that in perspective, and that will not last forever. Thanks for the comments, and Best of Luck going forward -Eric eric@urbaneapts.com 248-988-7125 Urbane Apartments
