I moved into Village Park last summer and was happy with the rent at $650 - a month, coming from Chicago it was a great deal for a one bedroom. I moved here to complete my residency at a local hospital and was planning on living here for two plus years...that is until I tried to renew and they were trying to force me to pay $790 a month. Now I can see a small increase but upwards of 20% is a bit much for a property that is only walking distance to Royal Oak on a warm sunny day (8 months of the year its to cold and rainy). Sure there is a pool you can use only 2 months of the year, and then my apartment looked into an AT&T parking lot which is an eye sore, I had no balcony and my apartment was never below 85 degrees in the winter plus the AC was to small to cool it during the sumemr. A nice staff and cool club house that you will never use is not worth the 20% increase or anything over $700 a month unless I move back to Chicago then $800 will be ok. Stay away from this place!
