Cheap and cosy. Good access to I-75. Bad for 696

I've lived in Woodland Gardens for one year and have mixed feelings about the place. The grounds look nice and the buildings look neat from the outside. That said the property doesn't offer covered parking, which in MI is sheer idiocy. They also don't always clear the snow/ice as quickly as you'd like.
The office and maintenance staff are nice but I've had a couple of minor service requests not filled to my satisfaction. They've recently (summer of 2004) painted the halls and added new, brighter lighting.
The one bedroom I have is small (630 sq ft) and since its sub-basement it can be a bit dank and damp. my girlfriends apt on the 2nd floor is, by contrast, always really warm and stifling. (her building is quite dirty with stained hallway carpets). The kitchens are in my opinion badly laid out with little counter space, at least in mine.
The apartments and especially the hallways do tend to fill up with smoke and smells and the rear entry doors do not have electronic entry systems.
Overall, the apartment is worth it for the rent and teh community is kept up nicely, though trash does pile up. Excercise room is kind of small. Never used the pool. I agree with another reviewer that this place is mostly for young singles, though there are a lot of families here.
