Maple Village of Southgate

I'm very picky/easily annoyed and I enjoyed living there!

Years at this apartment: 2009 - 2009
I lived there for only 3 months because I knew I'd be in Detroit only a short time and really appreciated the 3 month lease with significant discounts because my boyfriend's grandfather is retired military. I hate noise and am easily annoyed by it and found this place to be very quiet with a few exceptions; the only neighbor noise I ever heard was the really loud girl that screamed at her boyfriend above us and even then she could only be heard when yelling at full volume. Other than that the place is very quiet. When it's really windy you can hear it through the vents in the roof that tap open and close but you really do get used to it quickly and it stops bothering you. Also, some buildings are close to the expressway but again, you stop hearing it after a few days.
The keep us the grounds very well, it's a major step up from most places Downriver. All facilties are kept clean and I enjoyed the walking trail around the pond. I lived on the ground floor so there were a few bugs, mostly ants, but any building built on a concrete foundation will have them. Maple Village was out the same day I called them with the exterminator and allowed me to pick and choose what I wanted done since I was worried about harmful chemicals and my cat.
Parking is a non issue, I could always park right in front of my building and there were always lots of extra spots open any time, day or night.
As far as the staff, I moved in when Renee and Jenny worked there and couldn't possibly say enough nice things about them. However, I haven't seen them in a while and I'm not sure if they work there anymore. There are two new girls in the office who I didn't have much contact with so I can't comment on their customer service. Also, Charles was my maintenance man who is amazing. Again, not sure if he works there still, haven't seen him but he was one of the best maintenance men I'd ever met.
The apartments are listed as luxury, I wouldn't call them that. They are average at best but very updated and clean and you can't beat the washer and dryer in the unit. This community is much nicer than anything else you'll find Downriver for the price. I'd recommend this community to anyone, I liked it and if I ever move back to the metro-Detroit area I would definitely stay here again.
