Don't get lured

We checked out several places in the area and this is the one that had the features we were looking for.
Quickly enough we found out that noise is a major issue with a loud snorer on one side waking us up every other night (this is how thin the walls are!), loud neighbors on the other side and below. Without a TV or stereo on, you would be able to hear conversations at times.
Another immediate problem was odor with cooking smells coming from all directions through holes in the walls for pipes.
Maintenance folks were overall pleasant even if patience was almost always required to get someone over. The management seemed reluctant to replace old appliances though, even when they were clearly broken. After a little over a week though we finally got a replacement washer when it was needed.
The grounds are very well kept, this is definitely a strong point with them. That's why I say: don't get lured!
The residence gives pool passes but no one checks for them so that people from the surrounding areas (including trailer parks) would always squat the pool.
It is only after a girl from one of the apartments got her apartment broken into and taken to an ATM by a robber to take some cash out before behind taken back to her place and tied down (this made the news and can be verified) that DART properties which manages the place decided to hire someone for the front gate (instead of the lady who was just there to wave to people). Saddly enough this person is only there from 8PM until maybe 4AM and lets everyone through anyway.
What took the prize for me though is renovations. When some of my neighbors left, their apartments went through a renovation process. The management outsourced the work to outside contractor who worked any hours that pleased them. We had banging on the walls starting at 5:30AM including on Saturdays and Sundays.
It is only after three formal complaints (forms that can be filled out at the front office) that someone from management contacted the contractors to try to enforce stricter hours...by the time this happened, the work was done.
All in all, a poor experience from a customer satisfaction stand-point.
While some level of noise and smell can be expected, this was beyond the acceptable for me, and the management was just incompetent throughout it seems. Not worth the cost. Stay away is all I can say. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
