This is the first time I am renting. I live on the lower level, 2 bedroom 2 bathroom apt. Let me start with the things that I like about Shoal Creek:
The location is great! Right between 14 and 15 mile Rd on Ryan-perfect!! Close to 696, 75 and the mall. Also, I like the private entrances. The layout is pretty spacious and the staff in general are very nice.
We have a dog, a mini dachshund and he is welcome there, 100.00 yearly fee. You can have 1 dog OR two cats.

Now the bad:
Right after we moved in I started scrubbing the place (kitchen and bathroom especially). I noticed PUBES yes, pubic hair all over the bathrooms. It was very gross and I used rubber gloves. Also, I noticed ants crawling in from the molding for the 1st 2 weeks, then after I started spraying cleaning stuff in the holes they started to die off. Then to my horror they came back-with a vengeance! In the bedroom and living room those big black ants are everywhere! I found 2 crawling in my pajama drawer!!!!!!! EWWW! I found some crawling up the walls, on top of my dressers, crawling through the carpet etc..Now it's every here and there, but it's disgusting! There are little ants in the bathroom and it doesn't help that the cheap molding is pulling up from the floor to let them in. Maybe it's because we just moved in and it's spring time but it scares me to go to sleep and some ants decide to get in my bed!
Another thing is after making the check list I stressed that I didn't want the maintenance crew walking in and iout of my home. Well one day we found a can of WD4o on the counter-that we did not leave!!!! Obviously some guy was there-without a notice or our permission. Nobody ever called to let us know. To top it off my jewelry was on my dresser and undies laying around. They told me the only way they would just walk in is if it was an emergency.
Also my neighbor (who is very nice) when she leaves or comes in it sounds like the door slams every time. It makes me jump every time. Also I can hear footsteps constantly. The walls are pretty secure, I can never hear talking or anything.
Overall I like the place, but the bugs have got to go! Also they need to clean bettr between residents because those pubes were gross!
