Years at this apartment: 2002 - 2003
My husband and I stayed in this apartment complex because all our colleagues stayed here at the time. It was good enough at the time, ie when it was called "Village Park of Troy". However, once the "Eagles Landing of Troy" people took over, things started getting worse.
Maintenance takes their own sweet time of showing up, and most of the time we would have to call atleast 3 times. The heat stopped working many times, especially in the winter. We had a baby. The maintenance man didn't come until the next morning. All of us sat in our fur coats waiting. Finally maintenance man gave us a small room heater because he couldn't fix the heater. Then there was a water leak from the heater system due to which our walls caught mold and the carpet got wet and decomposed. This was unhealthy for us and the baby. Noone came to fix it for over a week. We told the leasing agents that we are moving out and that the apartment problem is still not fixed. They gave their nonchalant agreement. We also told them about the condition of the apartment and that we can't incur the cost and they agreed that we wouldn't have to pay.
Six months after we moved out, we got a letter from the credit collectors to pay $600 for the damage on the carpet. When we called up the leasing office, they said that they have no records of the maintenance call and that it was our damage. Finally we paid the credit collectors.
FYI, all our colleagues had also moved out of the apartment complex because of the poor service and they rented in nearby places.
This is not the place to move in if you have a family. There are many good places in Troy... move into some other place.
